Four-star Cameron Lewis announcing Thursday

2016 four-star safety Cameron Lewis will announce his commitment at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday during a ceremony at his high school

Cameron Lewis will celebrate his birthday by announcing a big decision.

The four-star safety from Wossman HS in Monroe will commit to a school Thursday at 9:30 p.m. during a ceremony at his school. Lewis did not want to name any finalists, but he is one of LSU's top targets in the 2016 class.

He visited the Tigers for the "Boys from the Boot" junior day in February. The other schools he's visited that have offered are TCU, Oklahoma State and Tulane. Though Lewis didn't say the schools in contention, it would figure that one of these four schools will receive his commitment on Thursday.

Lewis has been a high priority for LSU since landing his offer in November. The Tigers board at safety is absolutely loaded, especially with some top out-of-state recruits, but LSU has placed Lewis at the top of the list.

Corey Raymond and Bradley Dale Peveto have led his recruitment to this point.

The Tigers do not currently have a safety committed in 2016. Clifford Chattman could project as one, but he's currently considered an "athlete" by the LSU staff because he could also end up at linebacker on the next level. Outside the state, LSU has also targeted the top three safeties in the country in Brandon Jones, Eric Monroe and Deontay Anderson.

Though LSU hopes that Lewis will be the first on board when he announces his decision on Thursday.
