2016 S Cameron Lewis commits to LSU

Four-star safety Cameron Lewis announced his commitment to LSU on Thursday during a ceremony at his high school, becoming the eighth member of the Tigers' 2016 class

MONROELSU landed a commitment Tuesday from four-star safety Cameron Lewis, who announced the decision during a ceremony at Wossman HS.

Lewis becomes the eighth member of LSU's 2016 class, and the third consecutive defensive player to commit. He joins five-star corner Saivion Smith and three-star Clifford Chattman, an athlete that could play safety or linebacker, as potential defensive backs in this class. Should LSU retain Lewis' commitment all the way to National Signing Day, he'd be the first player from Monroe to sign with the Tigers since John Diarse in 2013.

Lewis chose LSU over other offers from schools like Texas A&M and TCU. The Tigers were the first school to offer him back in November.

Corey Raymond and Bradley Dale Peveto combined to recruit Lewis and secure his commitment.

Lewis was last on campus for the "Boys from the Boot" junior day in February. He grades as a four-star prospect, and should check in as a Top 15 overall recruit in Louisiana once the 2016 rankings are updated this week.
