Ben Simmons named Naismith Player of the Year

LSU basketball signee Ben Simmons picked up his second national award of the week on Thursday.

The caliber of player LSU basketball is getting in signee Ben Simmons keeps coming into focus.

After receiving the nod earlier this week as the 2015 Morgan Wooten Award winner, Simmons was tabbed Thursday as the Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year.

A 6-foot-10 forward from Australia, Simmons has had a big hand in Montverde Academy (Fla.) winning the last two national championships on the prep level.

Simmons is the second Tiger ever to be named Naismith Player of the Year after former LSU player Randy Livingston.

He'll arrive in Baton Rouge as one of multiple McDonald's All-Americans, joining, at a minimum, commitment Antonio Blakeney, Simmons' EYBL summer teammate on Each 1 Teach 1.
