NASHVILLE - LSU (22-10, 11-7) had a quick stay in Bridgestone Arena, losing its first game of the SEC Tournament, 73-70, to Auburn (15-19, 4-14) Friday in the quarterfinals.
Jordan Mickey returned for the Bayou Bengals but fouled out after only logging 16 minutes.
Keith Hornsby staked LSU to a lead for most of the ballgame, scoring a team-high 24 points, including three made threes and a 5-of-5 mark from the line.
Not much else went right at the charity stripe for the purple and gold as LSU finished 25-of-44 (56.8%) from the line.
Auburn's KT Harrell tied the game with 0.7 seconds left, hitting a contested three from the top of the circle, and then buried LSU in the extra period. Harrell ended the contest with a game-high 29 points and 15 made free throws in 18 attempts.
War Eagle moves on to play No. 1 Kentucky Saturday at Noon while LSU is left to await its postseason fate, announced late Sunday afternoon.
