Is USD targeting Eric Musselman?

An ESPN report Tuesday morning links LSU associate coach Eric Musselman with an opening at his alma mater, the University of San Diego. TSD shares the latest on the situation inside.

ATLANTA - A report surfaced Tuesday morning from ESPN's Jeff Borzello that LSU associate coach Eric Musselman is a "popular name" in connection with the head coaching vacancy at the University of San Diego, Musselman's alma mater.

Musselman, a two-time NBA head coach, is in his first season at LSU. He attended and played at USD from 1983-87, where in 1987 he led the Toreros to a program-best 24-6 mark and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The San Diego head post is now open after Bill Grier was fired Monday following eight seasons at the helm.

LSU plays NC State Thursday night in Pittsburgh in the Tigers' first trip to March Madness in six seasons.
