VIDEO: Hornsby leads LSU into new territory

Transfer guard Keith Hornsby is the only Tiger player with NCAA Tournament experience. The junior spoke with TSD in Pittsburgh about the approach for Thursday's game and whether LSU is better off playing fast or slow versus deep NC State.

PITTSBURGH - When it comes to been-there and done-that, only Keith Hornsby can make the claim on this LSU team as it relates to previous participation in March Madness.

Hornsby and UNC-Asheville played a tight ballgame versus top-seeded Syracuse in 2012, making the Orange sweat in a 1/16 matchup.

On the eve of the Tigers' first NCAA Tournament game since 2009, Hornsby addressed a number of topics, from advice he's given teammates on the Big Dance to gameplan-specific tidbits geared toward LSU's ACC foe in the Steel City, NC State.

"I think fast but fast under control," Hornsby responded when asked what pace will benefit LSU most. "That's the biggest thing for us. We don't want to have too many crazy turnovers. We'll make them guard us."

As for his teammates seeking counsel: "There's a few people that have asked me questions throughout the course of the year. It's just another game. We don't want to shine it too bright. We know the importance of it. Everybody does. We just want to go out, have fun and play a really good game."
