He's made multiple trips to Baton Rouge in the last couple months, and he was back on the Tigers' campus this past weekend for Saturday's scrimmage. The four-star prospect said he arrived in Baton Rouge around noon and got to spend time around Frank Wilson and the rest of the running backs.
"I was just hanging around," White said. "I went with Coach Frank to the running backs room and talked about the offense, the plays, the signals and all that they have in store for me...It was cool to see how they ran things and how Coach Frank teaches.”
Though some schools are recruiting White as a linebacker, White said it's 100 percent running back when it comes to LSU.
“Basically the same thing they’ve been saying forever," White said of how LSU sees him fitting. "It’s an offense built for a type of running back like myself.”
White could potentially be the next in line after Leonard Fournette wraps up his career with LSU. Fournette's been a big influence on White.
“Me and Leonard have been tight ever since he’s been in high school," White said. "He first started messaging me on Twitter and that was a big deal. We’ve been talking ever since, and it was great just being around him when I was there yesterday.”
White got to see Fournette and the rest of the LSU running backs in action during the Tigers' scrimmage. That was the first one he's attended, and he said he noticed how intense even that was. But it got him even more excited about playing college ball.
“It was nice. The running backs showed great skills," White said. "I love the physicality of the college level. This was my first scrimmage, so it was good to see football again. It’s not overwhelming.”
After another great day in Baton Rouge, White can't deny how at home he feels there.
“I’m very comfortable," White said. "When I’m down there, it’s like home. Everybody shows love. Every coach knows me, and they just love when I’m down there...It’s a big plus because we’ve got great relationships and bonds with each other.””
White recently earned an invite to The Opening, which will take place this July. White doesn't have any visits planned between now and then, though he does hope to hit a few schools. He just doesn't yet know which ones.
“I’m going to try to go somewhere, but I don’t know of any off the top of my head. I haven’t decided where I want to go, but places that I haven’t seen are the main ones I’m trying to get to.”
White's not in a hurry to make his decision. He won't name any leaders until he gets a chance to take more visits and narrow things down. He's planning on waiting until after his senior season, maybe at an All-American game.
But the factor he says will be most important in his decision has to be good news for LSU.
“The main thing is the trust factor," he said, "trust and relationships.”
