NEW ORLEANS — Kristian Fulton’s the top cornerback in Louisiana and the No. 1 name on LSU’s big board.
The Tigers have made sure Fulton knows it. He’s been one of their top priorities for more than a year now, and all that work seems to be paying off. Fulton recently took a visit to Baton Rouge to spend time around the LSU coaches while checking out a spring scrimmage.
“They make me comfortable every time,” Fulton said. “They show me a lot of love, show me how much they want me. I talk to all the coaches. It’s just a great feeling.”
His weekend visit included a lot of time with his potential position coach, Corey Raymond. As one of the best in New Orleans, Frank Wilson has mostly led his recruitment to this point.
But he and Raymond are getting tighter as well.
“We have a good relationship with Corey Raymond,” Fulton said. “We’re starting to build on that because it was mostly just me and Frank. But now that we’re deeper in the process, LSU’s showing a lot of love, and me and him have been talking a lot.”
That visit also included a one-on-one meeting with the head coach himself. Fulton said Les Miles really sold him on the benefits of staying close to home.
“It shows that I’m really important to the state,” Fulton said. “It would be a great thing to stay in-state with all my friends and family being able to watch me. That’s what they tried to sell me on. I’d have a great life after football if I went to LSU.”
Fulton has visited LSU far more times than other program. Though that familiarity is a big advantage, Fulton tries to remain open and plans to visit several other schools in the near future.
He has a trip to California planned for June to see USC and UCLA. In July, he’ll go check out Florida and Florida State, and he hopes to be at Ole Miss in a few weeks for the Rebels’ Spring Game. He also wants to check out Texas A&M again soon.
Once he wraps up those trips, look for Fulton to finalize his decision.
“I’ll probably be committing some time this summer, or maybe even before that. I just want to make sure I have the right school.”
