Basketball players honored at banquet

LSU basketball held its annual season-ending banquet Wednesday night. Check out which players took home awards from head coach Johnny Jones.

Much has transpired in the world of LSU basketball since the Tigers' season came to an abrupt halt March 19 in Pittsburgh.

Assistant coach Eric Musselman took the head job at Nevada, his replacement was tabbed yesterday in former Tiger assistant John Treloar, and both Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey declared for the 2015 NBA Draft.

On Wednesday night all the movement was put aside as the team gathered together for the annual season-ending banquet.

Mickey, presented a commemorative basketball for becoming the 39th player in LSU history to record 500 career rebounds, was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, sharing the honor with fellow sophomore Tim Quarterman.

Martin, who shot a robust 50.9 percent and averaged 16.9 points per game, was named LSU's Offensive Player of the Year.

Additional awards handed out included the Dale Brown Award, chosen by the coaches, given to junior point guard Josh Gray; and the L Club Team Captain Award, presented to senior forward John Odo.
