LSU establishes Brossette Family Fund

LSU has established the Brossette Family Fund to assist football signee Nick Brossette following the death of his older brother.

LSU has created the Brossette Family Fund, aimed to assist football signee Nicholas Brossette after the death of his older brother this past weekend.

Mendel Esnault passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Sunday morning. Esnault was the sole-provider for Brossette and his family. Brossette's mother, Rita, has been battling cancer since 2013 and is currently unable to work while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

LSU created this fund to assist the Brossette family with daily living expenses and the cost of Esnault's funeral.

NCAA rules permit LSU to accept money from donors on behalf of the Brossette family. The school created a similar fund in 2011 to help the family of running back Alfred Blue after their house burned down.

Brossette, a four-star running back, signed with LSU this past February and will enroll at the school in June. He attended University Lab on the LSU campus with Manny Miles, the son of LSU coach Les Miles.
