LSU received a commitment Thursday afternoon from one of the premier young athletes in the state of Florida.
Justin Watkins, a class of 2018 recruit, landed an offer from LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond in the earlier day, and within a few hours he decided to commit. Watkins currently projects as a running back, but only a rising sophomore, there's a long time for his body to develop.
He measures 6-foot, 170 pounds and recently transferred to Citra (Fla.) North Marion, a powerhouse in Central Florida. He spent his freshman season at Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard.
Watkins already held offers from schools like Florida, Miami, Georgia and UCLA among others. But it was one from LSU that he couldn't pass up.
Watkins becomes the second LSU commit in the 2018 class, joining quarterback Zadock Dinkelmann, who pledged to the Tigers more than a year ago.
