Lawrence was seen on the field before the Tigers' game against Missouri. His two lead recruiters — Bradley Dale Peveto and Ed Orgeron — accompanied him, as did fellow defensive tackle Christian Lacouture. The LSU football staff has made Lawrence one of their top targets in the 2016 class, and they had some assistance from the baseball folks in recruiting Lawrence on Saturday.
Lawrence had individual conversations with LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri and star shortstop Alex Bregman while on the field.
This marks Lawrence's first visit to LSU since earlier in the spring, when he attended one of the Tigers' practices. He didn't make it to Baton Rouge for the Spring Game last month, choosing instead to go to Alabama's.
So this weekend's visit provides the LSU coaches ample opportunity to recruit one of their top targets. LSU has already locked up the other five-star DT in the state, Ed Alexander, and they'd love to do the same with Lawrence.
Lawrence has offers from just about every major program in the country. Alabama is considered the biggest threat to LSU, the Tide hoping to strike once again in Monroe.
But LSU has made a point this year to show the love in North Louisiana. The Tigers' have a commitment from fellow Monroe native Cameron Lewis, who's said he wants to help recruit Lawrence. Lewis was also in town this weekend for the Outdoor Track & Field State Championships.
