LSU, Oklahoma to meet in SEC/Big 12 Challenge

LSU and Oklahoma will meet in the PMAC on Jan. 30, 2016 as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

LSU will host Oklahoma in the PMAC on Jan. 30, 2016 as part of the one-day SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

All 10 teams from the Big 12 will face 10 teams from the SEC on that day in the third year of the annual event. LSU beat then-No. 16 West Virginia in Morgantown last season as part of the challenge.

This will mark the fifth meeting between LSU and Oklahoma, but the first in Baton Rouge. The two teams have met twice in the NIT and two other times in the regular season, both on neutral courts. The teams have split the four previous meetings, the last coming in 2004 in the first round of the NIT.

LSU's coming off a 22-win season in 2014-15 and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2009. The Tigers dropped their first-round game to NC State, but will bring in one of the nation's best signing classes for the 2015-16 season.

Oklahoma reached the Sweet 16 last season, the fifth under head coach Lon Kruger.

The SEC/Big 12 Challenge changes to a one-day event next season as opposed to the week-long format it enjoyed the last two years. Eight of the 10 games will air on either ESPN or ESPN2 with the other two broadcasted on ESPNU.

LSU and the other nine SEC teams playing in this year's challenge will also participate in the 2017 challenge.
