LSU makes 4-star safety Eric Monroe's Top 10

LSU made the Top 10 for four-star safety Eric Monroe, and he's expected to attend the Tigers' Bayou Picnic this weekend.

Four-star safety Eric Monroe released a Top 10 on Wednesday, and LSU made the cut.

The Tigers were among several SEC and Big 12 programs on Monroe's list. The other nine teams in the mix for Monroe's commitment — Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas, TCU, Ole Miss, UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida and Houston.

Monroe is one of more than two dozen recruits with LSU offers expected to attend the Bayou Picnic this weekend. The Tigers are hoping to host many of their top targets in the 2016 class for a day on campus, including a cookout and one-on-one meetings between the recruits and coaches.

Monroe has been one of the Tigers' top targets for more than a year now. He first emerged as one of the top performers at a summer camp early in his high school career, and he's made numerous visits to campus since, attending games, camps and various junior days.

“When I am down there I always feel like it is a great atmosphere," Monroe said in an interview with Scout earlier this month. "I remember when I first went down there as a freshman, I balled out and won MVP of the camp. I was going against some big-time players.”

LSU has long been considered one of the top teams in contention. Most consider Texas A&M to be the biggest threat in this recruitment. The Longhorns have also made Monroe a big priority in their recruiting class.

Monroe will be at LSU on Saturday with another top safety from Houston in the 2016 class. Deontay Anderson is also expected to be in town, and LSU would love to land one or both of those premier defensive backs to this class.

Monroe hasn't laid out a specific time frame for when he hopes to commit to a school.
