Florida blanks LSU 4-0

The top-ranked Gators shut out the Tigers Friday night in each team's second game of the Women's College World Series. LSU will play again Saturday night, fighting for its WCWS life in Oklahoma City.

Behind an all-around dominant performance from Lauren Haeger, No. 1 Florida (56-6) dispatched of fifth-seeded LSU 4-0 Friday evening at OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City.

Haeger not only blanked the Tigers (51-12) in the circle, allowing only five hits and striking out four in a complete-game pitching effort. The National Player of the Year also clubbed her 18th home run of the season in the top of the fifth, opening up scoring in the game and giving Florida a 2-0 lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Freshman Carley Hoover gave up three runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings, taking the loss for the Tigers.

With the win the Gators advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 Women's College World Series.

Beth Torina's Tigers will play again Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Central Time, taking on the winner of Oregon and Alabama, scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m., in an elimination game.

Should LSU win tonight the Tigers would take on third-seeded Michigan Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
