Watch Stevenson's Amazing Run-Killing Catch
But the one he made Monday in the Baton Rouge regional championship game deserved the awe.
UNC-Wilmington had a runner on first with LSU clinging to a 2-0 lead. UNCW cleanup man clubbed one to deep right-center field. Stevenson sprinted, left his feet, made the grab and fired back to the infield to double off the runner.
"He looks like Odell Beckham, Jr., going after those balls," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri.
For a guy that's made dozens of similar catches in his LSU career, Stevenson was still ready to admit that this one stood out.
“I’ve had some other big catches, but that was probably one of the top ones because it was in a regional championship game."
His fellow outfielder, Jake Fraley, wasn't as impressed. But that's only because Stevenson's amazing defense has just become so common.
“He’s the best outfielder I’ve ever played with," Fraley said. "It’s truly a blessing to learn from him everyday. I really feel like he’s going to catch every ball that’s hit to him, and most of the time he does. It doesn’t surprise me that he made a catch like that, because he does it all the time.”
