Previewing the Ragin' Cajuns

In advance of this weekend's Super Regional in Baton Rouge, TSD's Ben Love got the inside scoop on the Ragin' Cajuns from beat writer Luke Johnson of the Acadiana Advocate.

TSD got an early preview of the Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team prior to this weekend's in-state Super Regional (slash cultural overload) in Baton Rouge with LSU, the No. 2 overall national seed.

Bringing the knowledge was Ragin' Cajuns beat writer Luke Johnson of the Acadiana Advocate. The interview originally aired Monday afternoon on "Bumper to Bumper Sports with Ben Love" on 103.7 FM (KLWB) in Lafayette.

Here were the major talking points:

- What's fueled the Cajuns' winning streak since losing Sun Belt Tournament opener
- Freshman pitching rotation and avoiding "the three-run inning"
- Former Tiger Evan Powell hitting from the six spot, winning Most Outstanding Player
- How Cajuns' coach Tony Robichaux is likely to arrange his pitchers
- The awesome shortstop matchup between Alex Bregman and Blake Trahan

One item that was discussed as a hypothetical that is now known is when the games will be played. It was announced Tuesday morning that the Baton Rouge Super Regional will begin Saturday night at 7 p.m. and continue Sunday at either 5 or 6 p.m. with an if-necessary game slated for Monday.
