The four-star LSU commit is now the No. 3 quarterback in the country, jumping up two spots from No. 5. Franks also ranks as the No. 57 overall recruit regardless of position.
Franks was a standout performer this past weekend at the Elite 11 semifinals, a competition held for 30 of the top passers in the country. The updated Scout 300 was submitted before this event, so it’s possible that Franks’ performance helps boost his stock further in the next update.
Franks will also participate next month in The Opening, the elite camp of the summer for the top recruits nationwide.
Franks figures to be one of the highest rated quarterbacks to sign with LSU. The Tigers have signed four quarterbacks ranked in the Top Six nationally at their position since 2003: JaMarcus Russell (No. 4 in 2003), Ryan Perriloux (No. 2 in 2005), Russell Shepard (No. 2 in 2009) and Brandon Harris (No. 6 in 2014).
The two quarterbacks currently ranked higher than Franks are also SEC commits: No. 1 Shea Patterson (Ole Miss) and No. 2 Jacob Eason (Georgia).
Franks does remain very firm in his commitment to LSU. In-state school Florida has worked hard to convince him otherwise, but Franks has never wavered in his pledge to the Tigers.
Franks also plans to pitch for the LSU Baseball team once he makes it to campus.
