Coach's Corner: Tyler Shelvin

TSD's Ben Love recently chatted with Trev Faulk, former LSU great at linebacker and now the coach of 2017 defensive line commit Tyler Shelvin at Northside High School. Get to know Shelvin better and hear Faulk's take on the Tigers in 2015.

Trev Faulk, one of the top linebackers in program history from 1999-2001, now has a pupil of his own committed to LSU as the head coach at Northside High School in Lafayette.

That standout player for the Vikings, 2017 defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin, gave his pledge to the Tigers and position coach Ed Orgeron in mid-March.

On Wednesday Faulk joined TSD publisher Ben Love on "Bumper to Bumper Sports" on 103.7 FM (KLWB) in Lafayette to discuss Shelvin's commitment, recent Alabama offer, his relationship with Coach O and much more.

Here's a snippet of what Faulk had to say about Orgeron ...

"I've been knowing Coach O for quite some time. He actually came to Lafayette High and recruited me when he was at USC. So I got a chance to spend a little bit of time when I was in high school with him. Ever since he's been back we've spoken on the phone probably once every couple of weeks. He's been very, very active, as his reputation leads as a recruiter. He's definitely lived up to that. We're kinda expecting that relationship to improve over the next couple of years."

Be sure to listen to the full interview, in which Faulk gauges how strong Shelvin's commitment to the Tigers is and previews the upcoming 2015 edition of the Bayou Bengals.
