Purdue QB transfer Danny Etling visiting LSU

TSD has learned that LSU is playing host this weekend to Purdue quarterback transfer Danny Etling.

TSD has confirmed LSU is playing host this weekend to prospective quarterback transfer Danny Etling, who spent his last two seasons with Purdue and has been granted full release by the Boilermakers.

Etling, a former three-star prospect in 2013 from Terre Haute South Vigo High School, was a starter for a chunk of his freshman season at Purdue but gave way to Austin Appleby midway through the 2014 campaign.

He played in 13 career games for the Boilermakers, completing 238 of 429 passes for 2,490 yards and 16 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. Head coach Darrell Hazzell granted Etling's transfer and full release last week.

Etling, who hails from the same place where LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron played in high school, will have to sit out the 2015 season and then have two seasons left of eligibility. Per various reports, he has already visited Arkansas.

The Tigers currently have three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, including freshman Justin McMillan, sophomore Brandon Harris and junior Anthony Jennings, last year's starter who was arrested Thursday for unlawful entry in a case still under investigation.

LSU also has secured a commitment in 2016 from Feleipe Franks, a Florida native and one of the top quarterbacks in his class across America.
