Leonard Fournette to rep LSU at SEC Media Day

LSU will send Leonard Fournette, Vadal Alexander and Kendell Beckwith to SEC Media Days

Hoover, Ala., will soon become part of Buga Nation.

LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette is one of three Tigers that will represent the team at SEC Media Days on July 16. The two others are senior offensive lineman Vadal Alexander and junior Kendell Beckwith. LSU SID Michael Bonnette announced the three representatives during an appearance Tuesday on Culotta & The Prince.

Fournette emerged as a massive star worthy of his No. 1 recruit ranking come out of high school. He was named to the All-SEC Freshman team after breaking the school's freshman rushing record with 1,034 yards on the ground. He also had 10 touchdowns and led the league with 137 all-purpose yards per game.

Fournette looks to continue building on his stardom and should be an early Heisman candidate entering his sophomore season. LSU doesn't typically send players so young to SEC Media Days. The last two years LSU sent five seniors and one junior (2014: La'el Collins, Terrence Magee, D.J. Welter; 2013: Zach Mettenberger, Craig Loston, Jarvis Landry)

It's clear the Tigers are counting on Fournette to be the face of this team.

Alexander turned down the NFL to return for his senior season. After playing guard the last two seasons, Alexander is now in line to start at right tackle for LSU in 2015.

Beckwith entered the starting lineup midway through the 2014 season at middle linebacker. He played a pivotal role in the defense's turnaround in the back half of the year. He has 88 career tackles, 8.5 for loss and 3.0 sacks.
