LSU punter Jamie Keehn on Ray Guy watch list

LSU's Jamie Keehn is one of 25 punters on the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list.

LSU punter Jamie Keehn was one of 25 players named Thursday to the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list.

LSU has never won the award given to the nation's best punter. Brad Wing was a semifinalist for the Guy Award in 2011 and 2012 but did not take home the hardware.

Keehn enters his senior season a legitimate contender for the award. The Australian set a school record in 2014 with 3,189 punting yards and his 44.9 yards-per-punt average placed him second in the SEC. It was also the third highest average in school history.

He was named to the All-SEC second team last season with 17 punts of at least 50 yards. 38 percent of his punts were pinned inside the 20-yard line.

Keehn has a 43.4 yards-per-punt average in his career, placing him third all-time at LSU behind Wing and Patrick Fisher.

Keehn is the fifth LSU player to land on a preseason watch list thus far. Here's the complete list:

Hornung Award (Most Versatile Player) - Leonard Fournette

Maxwell Award (Player of the Year) - Leonard Fournette

Bednarik Award (Defensive Player of the Year) - Kendell Beckwith, Jalen Mills

Rimington Award (Best Center) - Ethan Pocic

Guy Award (Best Punter) - Jamie Keehn
