How will Erick Fowler fit in LSU's defense?

Linebacker or defensive end? What role will Erick Fowler have with the Tigers?

Erick Fowler was a top five defensive end on all three days of The Opening. LSU lists him as a linebacker on the commit list.

He showed this week how bright a future he can have with the Tigers, filling multiple roles on the defense. He spoke with Scout's Greg Powers about where he sees himself playing once he makes it to LSU.

“Outside linebacker, defensive end, whichever one," Fowler said. "I’m comfortable with it. I’m playing for LSU, so I don’t really care how they use me.”

Fowler's decision to commit to LSU caught some by surprise. The Texas native said it was a no-brainer for him though.

“I love Coach Peveto, Coach Miles, Coach Steele," he said. "That’s been my favorite school since I was little…Their defense is just amazing. I love their defense.”

Texas is still going to press hard to flip Fowler. Considering he lives about 15 minutes from the Longhorns' campus, it wouldn't take much for him to check them out.

So how strong is his commitment to LSU?

“I really love LSU, but I also love UT and what they’ve been doing with the program," Fowler said. "But right now, I’m LSU.”
