LSU's surge to the front for Hunter comes on the heels of his first visit to Baton Rouge. He and fellow four-star Malik Herring spent some time on campus last week during the Tigers' camp.
The Tigers extended Hunter an offer in March and have made him a high priority ever since. His visit last week was so positive that it's vaulted LSU into a solid position at this early stage.
Linebacker is one of LSU's biggest needs in the 2016 class, and the Tigers will try to continue loading up on talent in 2017 as well.
LSU extended an offer earlier this week to Alabama three-star Thomas Johnston. The Tigers also have offers out to 2017 linebackers Deandre Wilder, Drew Singleton, Anthony Hines and Will Ignont.
LSU commit Dylan Moses, the No. 1 overall prospect in 2017, will likely play linebacker on the next level.
LSU hopes Jaden Hunter could one day join him in the linebacker corps.
