That's a large reason why the Tigers are so high on his list. Manuel recently released a top three that included LSU with Auburn and Florida.
Manuel took a visit to Baton Rouge earlier this summer with teammate and fellow five-star Saivion Smith, an LSU commit. The Tigers were seen as a longshot for Manuel entering that visit, but it clearly made a massive impression on him.
Coach Orgeron, as you'd probably expect, is the reason behind it.
"Coach O is a great coach," Manuel said in a video interview with Scout. "He knows his stuff. He's a D-Line guy. He put Leonard Williams [from USC] in the league. He compares me to him all the time."
Manuel's next LSU visit may be on an official. He said the Tigers were one of five teams that would receive his official visits, adding Clemson and Florida State to Florida and Auburn. He hasn't scheduled any of them yet though.
Most expect Manuel's recruitment will be one of the hottest this cycle. It will likely come down to the wire, though Manuel said he isn't certain about his decision timeline.
"I don't have a set [date]," he said. "I might commit tomorrow. You never know. I'll be praying about it, talking to my family, just keep it going."
