No. 1 recruit Rashan Gary watches LSU camp

The five-star defensive linemen wraps up his two-day visit to LSU on Thursday.

Rashan Gary, the No. 1 recruit in the country, had a front row seat for LSU's first practice of fall camp.

The five-star recruit was spotted watching the LSU defensive linemen in action. He was accompanied by LSU personnel director Austin Thomas while DL coach Ed Orgeron worked his unit through individual drills.

This is Day 2 of Gary's return visit to Baton Rouge. He and his mother flew down from New Jersey Wednesday afternoon and spent all day on campus and around the coaching staff. Gary spent most of his time with coaches and other players while his mother got the full tour of LSU's academic support.

The pair joined the LSU coaches and their families for a dinner inside the Tiger Stadium expansion Wednesday night.

Gary stayed on campus Thursday to see the Tigers open their preseason practices. LSU's recruiting him as a five-tech defensive end but one that could occupy any spot along the defensive line.

LSU has soared up his list since his first visit to Baton Rouge two weeks ago. That trip came with his coach and teammates, so it was important for his mother to see LSU for herself. Gary's interest in the Tigers clear after his willingness to return in such a short timespan.

Gary will soon narrow down his list to the five schools that will receive official visits. LSU's hoping to secure that spot with this week's trip.
