LSU commit Rahssan Thornton visiting Texas

LSU commit Rahssan Thornton will spend his Friday on Texas' campus.

Texas has its sights set on several LSU commits, and one — Rahssan Thornton — will be on the Longhorns' campus Friday.

Scout's HornsDigest.com reported that Thornton will make the short trip to Austin and spend some time around Charlie Strong and the other Texas coaches. The Longhorns have made a big push for Thornton and are hoping this visit gives them a better chance.

LSU was one of the first schools to offer Thornton back in the spring. Texas offered him a couple months later, but Thornton committed to the Tigers soon after that.

Thornton's originally from New Orleans and grew up loving LSU. He still has family in Louisiana and that played a big role in why he pledged to the Tigers.

He spent multiple days in Baton Rouge last month for the LSU Elite Camp where he worked out at linebacker aside fellow commit Erick Fowler, another Texas target. Those two spent a lot of time with each other and LSU commits and that helped solidify that positive feelings with the Tigers.

LSU exited that camp feeling even more confident they'd retain both Thornton and Fowler, but the Tigers will likely have to sweat out several visits to Austin between now and National Signing Day.

Thornton lives only about 75 minutes from Texas' campus, while Fowler is only about 15 minutes away. The convenience alone will lead to several trips, but at this point, both guys seem solid to the Tigers.
