LSU Baseball releases 2016 schedule

The LSU Baseball team opens the 2016 season Feb. 19 against Cincinnati.

Only 179 days remain until LSU Baseball returns to the Box.

The Tigers will open their 2016 season Feb. 19 against Cincinnati, according to the complete schedule released Monday by the school. That will be one of four non-conference weekend series with other opponents Sacramento State, Fordham and Ball State on the schedule.

The non-conference slate features a rare midweek road trip late in the season to a Power Five opponent. The Tigers will face Notre Dame, Paul Mainieri's previous coaching stop, on May 10-11 in South Bend, Ind. That falls between SEC series against Arkansas and Tennessee. The Irish will come to Baton Rouge to open the 2018 season.

The SEC schedule begins March 18 in Alex Box Stadium against Alabama. LSU also has conference home series against Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Florida. The Tigers go on the road to face SEC teams Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
