LSU moves slightly up in the polls after Saturday's win against Mississippi State

LSU got a little bit of love from the voters after Saturday's season opening victory against Mississippi State.

The Tigers rose one spot to No. 13 in the Associated Press Poll. They also moved up a spot to No. 14 in the USA Today/Amway Coaches' Poll.

LSU's opponent next week, Auburn, didn't fare so well in the polls.

Auburn needed overtime to escape with a victory against FCS foe Jacksonville State. Auburn paid for it dropping heavily in both the AP and Coaches' rankings.

Auburn fell 12 spots to No. 18 in the AP and eight spots to No. 15 in the Coaches'.

A week after landing a record 10 teams in the polls, the SEC didn't fare so well. Oklahoma and Arkansas fell out of the polls after losses this weekend.

The conference does still have seven teams ranked in each poll, led by No. 2 Alabama and No. 7/8 Georgia.
