LSU a big riser in both AP, Coaches' Polls

LSU up to No. 8 in the AP Poll, No. 9 in the Coaches' Poll

LSU is now a Top 10 team according to both of the major polls released Sunday.

The Tigers moved up five spots in each, now No. 8 in the Associated Press poll and No. 9 in the Amway/USA Today Coaches' Poll. LSU beat Auburn, 45-21, on Saturday to move to 2-0 on the season.

LSU got one first place vote in the AP Poll.

LSU was one of the nation's biggest risers. Only Ole Miss moved up more spots in the Coaches' Poll, and there were three teams (Stanford, Ole Miss and Northwestern) had a bigger increase than LSU in the AP Poll.

LSU is one of six SEC teams ranked in the AP Poll, seven in the Coaches' Poll. No. 3/5 Ole Miss leads the way after a big road win against now No. 12 Alabama. No. 6/7 Georgia is the only other SEC team ranked ahead of LSU in each poll.

This week's opponent, Syracuse (3-0), did not receive any votes in either poll this week. Those two wil meet in the Carrier Dome on Saturday at 11 a.m.
