In beating Eastern Michigan 44-22 Saturday night in Death Valley, LSU stayed undefeated and got a largely satisfactory effort from its defense.
Coordinator Kevin Steele's troops caused plenty of turnovers, picking off the Eagles three times while getting a pair of sacks from junior defensive end Lewis Neal.
One of the interceptions came courtesy of senior linebacker Deion Jones, who brought the gift back 26 yards for a crucial touchdown in the fourth quarter. Jones, mostly a special teams player the past three years, has been arguably the defense's Most Valuable Player through four ballgames.
