Six offers for Mississippi DE

Long Beach, Miss., prospect Xavier Mitchell (6-4, 242, 4.8) is one of the top defensive players in the Magnolia State and the 11th rated defensive end in the nation.

College coaches have spent a lot of time scouting Mitchell and he has some impressive scholarship offers to choose from with only a few weeks to go before he starts his senior year.

"I've got six offers," Mitchell told Tiger Rag. "LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Miss have offered. I'm also looking at Nebraska. I've got a top three but not in any particular order. They are LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss."

Mitchell made an unofficial visit to LSU and liked what he saw but he is eagerly awaiting his official trip to Baton Rouge so he can get the full effect.

"The first time I went there I felt really comfortable with the campus life," he said. "The facilities there are nice and coach (Nick) Saban is a pretty cool guy."

Mitchell wants to surround himself with good players that will complement his style of play and he sees that with the Tigers.

"They have a good looking team over there, said Mitchell. "That is a big part, too. I don't care about playing early because I don't think I'm ready to. If that happens though that would be great."
