Lafayette OL gaining offers

Lafayette-St. Thomas More standout Geoff Berniard has had a busy summer with the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-8, 310-pound offensive tackle has had offers from Florida State, Mississippi State and Virginia Tech sitting on the table, but he is still waiting on one from his top choice.

"Duke just offered about a week and a half ago," Berniard told Tiger Rag. "I just got back from a Mississippi State camp that went real well. I met the rest of the coaching staff and I like how the program is not top-notch but on its way up. But I'm kind of waiting to see what LSU is going to do."

LSU coaches wanted to get a glimpse of Berniard at their one-day lineman camp and he obliged them with a visit.

"They said they wanted to see a couple of things and they said they saw what thew wanted to see," he said. "I saw they offered a couple of more offensive tackles so I'm kind of getting mixed signals. I'm still waiting to see what is going to happen with them."

What makes the Tigers so attractive to him?

"Pretty much just being LSU," said Berniard. "They always have their name in something and they have a great coaching staff. They are always at the top for recruiting and always in a big bowl game. They didn't win the SEC last year but they were in a New Year's Day bowl again. But, mostly being from Louisiana and I've always been a Tiger fan."
