2017 four-star IMG Academy (Fla.) Grant Delpit says the decision to commit to LSU was somewhat difficult, but it was in his heart that he knew he needed to be at LSU.
"It was definitely a good thing. LSU is a home for me. I'm from there. It's good to get back there and get back to my community, get back to my family and come watch me every game. In my head, I always knew LSU was the leader for me."
LSU still has commitment, but Florida will receive an official visit. Clemson, Alabama and Auburn are also in the mix for the safety's other official visits, who will take all five he says.
"I'm taking all my visits. I know one school for sure is Florida, but I have to figure everything out. I love the coaching staff and I feel like I could do well there. I can visit whenever I want to. When I was in Houston, I couldn't visit, but now, that'll help them.
Delpit says that even with the visit, he's still solid to LSU.
"I'm hard committed right now so if anything changes, I'll always be open."
At IMG Academy, it's a packed schedule for Delpit, who continues to train and prepare for the next level.
"It's been a blessing to come over here and the speed they go here is top notch because you've got to be faster and know the most. In two weeks here, I learned more in my whole high school career. I'm just getting ready for the season."
Teammates like fellow LSU commit Jhamon Ausbon challenge him everyday, which is a huge plus for the safety.
"Going against this guy everyday in the slot, I get better everyday. Whether it's blitzing off the edge or in the trenches, it gets real in the trenches."
Delpit is Scout's No. 5 safety in Florida and No. 25 overall in the 2017 class.null
