Decision Day Primer: Scout100 athlete Jacoby Stevens

Scout100 athlete Jacoby Stevens is set to announce his commitment today from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and LSU. Get set with Tiger Blitz' Decision Day Primer.

Today is the day. 2017 athlete (safety at LSU) Jacoby Stevens is set to make another commitment and pick from LSU and Alabama. Stevens of course, has already been an LSU commit before and Tiger Blitz expects that to be the case at the end of today.

At 2:30 pm CT, Stevens will announce his commitment and pick a school. Last time, Stevens said he committed too quickly, but this time, he was able to weigh his options.

Stevens broke down his final schools: AlabamaAuburnGeorgia and LSU Tigers with Scout's Chad Simmons last week and is excited to have the recruiting process over. The 4-star athete says that this will be it for his recruitment and don't expect him to wave from it.

"This is it," Stevens told Simmons.  "My recruitment is over this time.  When I commit Monday afternoon I may go ahead and change my phone number because I am only going to be focused on that one school.  After I announce my commitment, my recruitment will be a done deal."

By shutting down his recruitment, Stevens can now focus on just one school he says and enjoy his senior season.

The Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland athlete will end up at safety at LSU. The 6-2, 190-pound athlete is the No. 1 athlete in Tennessee and Scout's No. 38 overall prospect in the country. Other schools that were in the mix included Clemson, Florida State, Tennessee, Cal, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and others.

SCOUT EVALUATION

Stevens is a natural athlete with the ability to play offense or defense on the college level. Has hands like an elite wide receiver, but may be best longterm at safety. He has very good instincts on the football field and great awareness. As a defender, he can play on and off the ball. He has shown he can support the run or read the quarterback and make plays on the ball. As a receiver, you see him go up and make plays at the highest point and make the tough catch in traffic. He has a good frame and can be a physical football player. He plays more quick and explosive than someone with the elite speed on the back end. He can cover a lot of ground.
