2016 LSU Football Player Profile: FB J.D. Moore

In the latest Tiger Blitz player profile, Billy breaks down Leonard Fournette's "flashlight," fullback J.D. Moore.

Position: Fullback
Year: RS-Junior
Size: 6-4, 241 pounds
Hometown: Ruston, La.
High School: Ruston High

Coming out of high school John David Moore didn't have many options and choose to head to LSU where he started at tight end, but was moved to that fullback spot. He was Class 5A All-State Honorable Mention as a tight end in high school.

2015 Recap

Last season, Moore hurt his knee in the South Carolina win and continued to play before his season ended much sooner than expected. Moore returned for the Alabama game where he re-aggravated the injury and was ruled out for the year. Moore was a key to leading the way for Fournette and his massive season. When Moore went out, LSU's offense really struggled overall and the team lost three games in a row starting with Alabama. Moore sat out the spring as well working on returning to the field.

Outlook in 2016

With Moore back in the fold, that gives LSU even more experience on offense in the backfield. It also gives Fournette and Brandon Harris more comfort with Moore back there. The offense really sputtered without Moore back there and that's a credit to Moore, but also shows how valuable he really is. If he can stay healthy, expect a big year from Moore. He's a big key to this offense even if the team incorporates more spread principles to the offense. When LSU needs that short yardage for a first down or a touchdown, you can bet they'll look to Moore for it. He'll be a big key to this offense's development in 2016.
