On the defensive side of the football freshman Kirston Pittman worked with the first team defensive line. The former East St. John star worked in the place of junior Marquise Hill. Hill's only work in practice came in nickel formations.
The linebacking core continues to solidify itself as senior Adrian Mayes, Eric Alexander and junior Lionel Turner all continue to play well. A former safety, Mayes continues to display impressive coverage skills in individual workouts.
Backing up the starters at the linebacker position will be the trio of Jason LeDoux, Cameron Vaughn, and possibly West. Vaughn continues to improve as the fall progresses as the sophomore form Terrytown knowledge of the defensive playbook increases.
On the offensive side of the ball, head coach Nick Saban was displeased with the intensity displayed by his offense early in practice. The team responded to their head coach's request and looked very impressive in individual drills.
Quarterback Matt Mauck continues to look sharp and freshman Matt Flynn was the most impressive of the young quarterbacks as the freshman from Tyler, Texas displayed pin-point accuracy on his passes, particularly the deep ball.
Perhaps the biggest news from the quarterback position is Lester Ricard. The former Amite star's repetitions continue to drop as fall practices have progressed.
LSU will scrimmage tomorrow at 3:00 and will have Thursday off before a 4:00 Friday and 3:00 Sunday practice.
