Pocic was originally recruited and ranked as one of the top offensive tackles in his home state of Illinois. The former four-star enrolled early and choose to play for LSU over Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State and Iowa.
Pocic turned down a chance to be an NFL Draft pick after he started at center all 12 games last season. He was the team leader in knockdown blocks with 132.5. His play landed him on the All-SEC coaches team for the season and recorded double digit knock down blocks in six games last season, with a career-high 18 knockdowns coming against Ole Miss.
Pocic enters this season not only as one of the top offensive lineman in the SEC, but as the pillar of the Tigers offensive line. After hip surgery at the end of the 2015 season which sidelined him for spring practice, Pocic is fully recovered.
The 6-foot-7, 302-pound center is the only mainstay of the ever-changing LSU offensive line. Pocic brings veteran leadership to a relatively inexperienced offensive line group.
