Florida and LSU were the final two for the former five-star stud. Jamal Adams was one of the five-stars that came along in LSU’s 2014 recruiting class. The Gators stayed in the running because of his godfather Joker Phillips was on the Gators staff at the time. Adams was rated as Scout’s No. 1 ranked safety in the country coming out Texas.
After finishing third on the team in tackles Adams landed on the All-Southeastern second team during his sophomore season. The 6-foot-1 ballhawk nabbed four interceptions last season and racked up a total of five tackles for loss.
Adams leads the charge of a new look LSU defense under Dave Aranda. While his role at his position hasn’t changed he’s sort of the quarterback on the defense.
“With the depth up front it helps us a lot in the back end,” Adams said. “My role hasn’t really changed. I’m more vocal back there.”
By the end of the season Adams will likely be on the top many NFL team’s draft board and is already making waves according to NFL Draft analysts.
