2016 LSU Football Bold Predictions

The Tiger Blitz staff breaks down their bold 2016 season predictions for LSU Football.

Billy: Derrius Guice rushes for 1,000 yards

What about Leonard Fournette's Heisman Trophy run? Well, look to Darren McFadden's over 1,800 yards in 2007 in his runner-up run to Tim Tebow in the Heisman Trophy race. Who was the backup running back? Felix Jones ran for over 1,100 yards and was a big target in the receiving game for the Razorbacks. The pair are eerily similar to the backfield LSU is set to roll out this weekend.

I don't think there's too much that LSU would have to do differently for Guice to hit 1,000 yards and for Fournette to still have an outstanding season. Booger McFarland on the SEC Network even suggested Fournette won't win the Heisman because of his numbers. Guice meanwhile could do more with a more consistent workload and earn his 1,000 yards. That might worry LSU fans who want to see LSU pass the ball more, but for me, it's about what Brandon Harris does when he drops back to pass versus how often. With Fournette and Guice both totaling over 1,000 yards each, he won't have too much pressure on him to carry an offense.

Josh: Brandon Harris will throw for 3,000 yards.

For LSU to win the national championship this season, Brandon Harris will have to efficient.

On paper, 3,000 yards sounds like a lot, but it’s doable and Leonard Fournette will get his touches.

Cam Cameron should what this offense was capable off in 2013 with Zach Mettenberger, Jeremy Hill, Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry.

Now the Tigers have an even stronger rushing attack, which opens up the door for success in the passing game.

Christian: Arden Key breaks LSU's single season sack record

In Dave Aranda's new 3-4 defense, sophomore "Buck" linebacker/defensive end Arden Key will eclipse LSU's 12 sacks in one season program record.

In the scheme, Key will (mainly) be lined on the short side of the field. In multiple packages, Aranda will shoot Key into open gaps created by the his nifty trips along the defensive line.

Let's go with 14 sacks for Key.

Arden Key - 14+ sacks
Lewis Neal - 8-10 sacks
Kendell Beckwith - 4+ sacks
Davon Godchaux - 2+ sacks
