Freshman watch: Who played on Saturday?

Not a single freshman played on offense, but a handful played on defense and special teams. Josh breaks down who played and what they each did.

Freshman who played on defense

Michael Divinity- Four tackles, one tackle for loss

Initially Divinity was listed as the starter at the “F” position opposite Arden Key, but Tashawn Bower started in his place.

Divinity played a decent amount snaps and even racked up a tackle for loss. Divinity played solid against the run, but had issues with pass coverage.

Rashard Lawrence - No stats

With Frank Herron absent, Rashard Lawrence moved up the depth chart behind Davon Godchaux at defensive end. Lawrence didn’t show up on the stat sheet but came in to give rest for Davon Godchaux.

Freshman who played on special teams

Josh Growden - Seven punts for 227 yards, 32.4 average yards per punt, longest punt 41 yards.

In his first ever football game, Growden struggled. The Australian averaged 32.4 yards per punt and sometimes sailed his punts out of bounds.

Blake Fegurson - Starting long snapper.

Caleb Roddy - No stats.

Devin White - No stats.

Xavier Lewis - No stats.
