Destrehan's Richard has it down to four

Destrehan (La.) prospect Darryl Richard is the ninth rated defensive tackle in the country and a force to be reckoned with on the gridiron.

Colleges from all over the country have recruited the six-foot-four, 285-pounder with a 4.9 40-time, but five schools are in the running.

"I would have to say it would be Stanford, Notre Dame, LSU, Colorado and Tulane," Richard told Tiger Rag. "As of yet no one stands out above the others."

Richard has made unofficial visits to LSU and Tulane but he is looking forward to checking out some of his out-of-state choices. However, playing close to home could play a heavy role in his decision.

"I think all of the schools are pretty even but LSU does have an edge because it is a nice program and it is close to home," he said. "But really all of my schools are dead even."

Some may think that the only reason Richard is considering Tulane is because of its proximity to his home in Destrehan but he is quick to point out that that is not the only thing keeping Tulane around.

"In a way it is location but more so because it is a real good school," said Richard. "The football team went to a bowl game last year and I know they can win in the future. So that is another reason why they are one of my options."
