Rummel lineman getting national attention

If you are a college football coach in need of defensive tackles then Louisiana should be one of the top states on your radar screen.

One bayou lineman who is getting a lot of attention from coaches all over the country and is racking up the scholarships offers is Nader Abdallah.

The 6-4, 285-pounder from Metairie-Archbishop Rummel has more than 30 scholarship offers but according to his high school position coach, Abdallah is wide open right now.

"He has a lot of offers but I don't think Nader knows where he wants to go," said Rummel defensive line coach Joey Boh. "He wants to take his time and see what is out there and then take his visits during the season."

Some of the schools that Abdallah is considering are Nebraska, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Tulane, Florida , Tennessee, Colorado, Oklahoma, UCLA and Miami. While he has plenty of offers on the table he is still waiting on one to roll in.

"He is real interested in LSU," Boh told Tiger Rag. "To my knowledge they have not offered him yet but they like him. The coaches came down and looked at him in the spring but they want to see him play this year. LSU is kind of taking a wait and see approach."

Abdallah is fully qualified and he has exceptional strength and good technique. With that said, many wonder what LSU coach Nick Saban is waiting on.

"He is big and strong and he has good feet," Boh said. "He is not afraid to come up and hit you. He has gotten better since he got here and I think his best football is ahead of him."
