LSU currently sits at No. 9 in the Scout recruiting rankings with 18 commitments and plenty of high-profile targets considering the Tigers. The move to hire Ed Orgeron as head coach of the Tigers has been met with positive reviews from nearly every prospect Tiger Blitz has talked with so far.
One of the main concerns with LSU hiring someone other than Orgeron was holding this 2017 recruiting class together with a few of the commits already scheduling visits elsewhere. One commit that won't be looking elsewhere is 4-star offensive lineman Austin Deculus.
"I'm 100%. Happy as hell," Deculus told Tiger Blitz.
That clears up one of the biggest question marks for LSU and could help the Tigers land 5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, who is Orgeron's No. 1 priority and is also from the Houston area.
LSU quarterback commit Myles Brennan has been on campus nearly every game this season and one of the most vocal supporters in the class of LSU. He affirmed his commitment to the Tigers and is excited about Orgeron.
"Love it! He's one heck of a coach, him and I are very close and I can't wait to spend my college career with him!" the Under Armour All-American told Tiger Blitz.
The other LSU quarterback commit, Lowell Narcisse, is more of a dual-threat option for the Tigers and said he's happy with the hire, but his eyes will be on who LSU brings in at offensive coordinator.
"Coach O is my guy. Still waiting to see who gets the OC job," Narcisse told Tiger Blitz via text.
Uncommitted 4-star safety Todd Harris had a feeling Orgeron would land the full-time gig and has been another consistent visitor even amid the coaching uncertainty. Harris will announce on National Signing Day after delaying his decision to allow for more visits.
“I kind of knew he would keep the job. Everybody was supporting him. He has the program going in the right direction,” Harris said.
Chaisson: "HELLL YEAHHHH"
Jones: “YES!! Geaux Tigers!!"
LSU running back commit Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a big supporter of Orgeron and is excited to get to LSU too.
