Five-star running back Cam Akers lead his Clinton (Miss.) team to its first state championship and did so with one of his best performances of his storied career.
Playing quarterback for Clinton, Akers had 217 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns, 228 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the 6A state championship game.
“This was," Akers told the Clarion-Ledger's Will Sammon after the game on Friday, "the perfect ending."
Now, Akers sets his eyes on making his college decision. The early enrollee has the likes of LSU, Ole Miss, Florida State, Ohio State and Tennessee in the mix it seems although Akers hasn't tipped his hand.
Akers is now at the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game practices after arriving on Tuesday morning. The No. 4 overall player in 2017 spoke with Scout about his top schools including LSU on Tuesday.
