Trending the LSU official visitors from the Jan. 13 weekend in Baton Rouge

The first group of LSU official visitors have come and gone from Baton Rouge. Where do things stand with each? Tiger Blitz breaks down their visits and shares what's next for each.

After hosting a monster group of official visitors this past weekend (and into this week) in Baton Rouge, Tiger Blitz takes a look at where each of the official visitors (and an unofficial visitor) are trending according to my talks with sources after LSU's big weekend.

With all the committed players that were in Baton Rouge this weekend solid on their pledges, we tackle the uncommitted targets and a potential flip target that were on campus this past weekend and share where they're trending and where we currently have headed.

The Latest: Edna Karr wide receiver Racey McMath came right out and said it. LSU is his leader, but Texas A&M will now get an official visit from McMath, who has been heavily courted by the Aggies. McMath will visit with a host of Louisiana kids including Justin Harris, Bryan Jones and Al'Dontre Davis. Texas A&M has developed by receivers like McMath before and he knows he's going to get touches in the Aggies' spread offense. If Kevin Sumlin makes him feel like he'll catch a ton of balls during his four years in College Station, things could get interesting. While Matt Canada's presentation impressed McMath, he's always been listening to Texas A&M's pitch as he quietly conducted his recruitment en route to a state championship and it's a good bet that McMath could see more touches at Texas A&M. It'll come down to what staff he trusts more to get him the ball and develop.

The Latest: LSU has done well to get back into the race here for five-star wide receiver Devonta Smith, but the Amite star left his LSU official visit and headed right over the Florida State for a quiet official visit. That's never a good sign. Miami on the other hand, continues to make a push for the receiver, who has been called an Alabama lean since the summer. With an official visit to Miami still on the books after Smith's official visit to Alabama, Mark Richt and the staff will have a chance to impress Smith one more time before his final decision. While LSU has done a good job getting back into this race and the Tigers could still land Smith, that was a true sign that Baton Rouge might not end up being where Smith calls home for college. After this weekend, I have taken Smith out of the class. That was just too big of a sign that it won't be the Tigers on February 1.

The Latest: LSU got a surprise unofficial visit from Alabama wide receiver Nico Collins after Dameyune Craig visited Collins this past week before the official visit weekend kicked off. Collins then returned to Alabama after the unofficial visit, where Georgia coaches were waiting for him for an in-home visit. The four-star wide receiver then took off for his all-star game in Hawaii. When Collins returns, he'll visit Georgia, which looks to be the leader for Collins right now. Craig is pushing Collins and is making him a priority. Will it end up being a signing day tossup between LSU and Georgia? That depends on how Collins feels on his Georgia official visit.

The Latest: The five-star defensive tackle and No. 10 overall player in the country Marvin Wilson brought his family and best friend in to town for his official visit to LSU and it couldn't have gone any better. Wilson was all smiles according to reports and that's what we've been told by fellow visitors as well. At this point, it's tough to see LSU losing its grip on the prized defensive tackle even with Florida State pushing for him as well. Jimbo Fisher can still make his in-home visit and Ed Orgeron has already used his with Wilson. LSU is back in-home with Wilson this week to continue their push and build off its momentum.

The Latest: After speaking with four-star defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis and his family, it's apparent that LSU leads for the Scout 100 member as his recruitment enters the home stretch. Now, Mathis will visit Alabama this weekend, who also visited him this week as did LSU. After Alabama, Mathis will visit TCU before making his final decision. That being said, it looks like LSU is the team to beat for the No. 1 defensive tackle in Louisiana thanks to how welcome the LSU staff made Mathis feel.

The Latest: Scout has now spoken to the Brooks family a couple of times since LSU has jumped into the mix with an offer and it's becoming clear that LSU is right there for Ellis Brooks, if not the leader for his signature over the likes of Oregon, Maryland and Northwestern. An official visit to Oregon and then Michigan as of now are set for the four-star linebacker, but following his official visit to LSU, the Tigers stand in a good spot for the player Orgeron told he wanted him as the quarterback for his defense.

http://www.scout.com/player/202196-k-lavon-chaisson

The Latest: Now a five-star recruit, K'Lavon Chaisson was first offered by LSU and while Texas now has Tom Herman, who Chaisson has a good relationship with, LSU has made the No. 1 defensive end in the Midlands its No. 1 priority. If there's one kid in the class that I'm taking all the way to National Signing Day unless things go insanely well for him in Austin this weekend, it's Chaisson. LSU made a big impression not only on Chaisson, but his mother too, and after seeing life through the eyes of Arden Key for a weekend, Chaisson can envision what being a Tiger could be like exactly. In the end, Chaisson ends up a Tiger because of that.

www.scout.com/player/204330-tyler-taylor

The Latest: Georgia linebacker Tyler Taylor has kept his recruitment pretty tight lipped, but it appears that LSU has closed the gap to Auburn and Oklahoma for the four-star linebacker after the official visit to Baton Rouge. That explains the LSU trending aspect of this breakdown. With an official visit still left to Auburn though, my pick for Taylor remains Auburn, but Oklahoma could still land Taylor if LSU lands Jacob Phillips in a flip. As of now though, I see Taylor ending up at Auburn. LSU did make up some ground, but I don't think it'll be enough when Taylor decides next week between the trio of schools.

The Latest: Last, but not least. The Alabama commit and Baton Rouge native Chris Allen made the short trip over to LSU for an official visit this past weekend and will now turn his attention to Alabama on an official visit. Nick Saban made a stop in Baton Rouge this week to see Allen, but LSU is going right back in-home on Thursday before he leaves for Tuscaloosa. The No. 4 outside linebacker in the country hasn't shut the door on LSU at all. I've got him in my class as people I've talked with close to Allen feel confident about the flip happening and even some around him that are for it. All that could lead Allen to LSU and staying in his home town. That could all change of course as Alabama will roll out the red carpet this weekend in a huge official visitor weekend, but as of now, many close to the Southern Lab star feel good about the Tigers' chances.

www.scout.com/player/199282-todd-harris

The Latest: Four-star safety Todd Harris is another local top prospect to visit LSU this past weekend. With LSU and Alabama battling it out for Harris, and potentially a tight fit for Harris to even make it in to Alabama, I see LSU getting yet another top defensive back to round out this class. It's clear that Harris is down to the Tigers and the Tide and while Nick Saban visited Harris this week and he visits Alabama this weekend before heading to TCU, I see LSU picking up the Under Armour All-American on National Signing Day.
