2018 Scout 300 defensive tackle Ronnie Perkins has been added some big-time offers this spring and picked up an LSU offer from Ed Orgeron recently. It was a big one for the 4-star lineman.
“It's huge and I'm very thankful for it,” Perkins said.
Orgeron made the offer himself to the likes the 6-4, 245-pound junior's athleticism and versatility. The St. Louis area target likes what Orgeron is building in Baton Rouge.
“He said was excited to recruit me and getting me up on campus,” Perkins said. “He's a great coach and I really like how he runs the program.”
As of now, a date hasn't been set for a visit, but Perkins will either make it for the March 18 national junior day or return in the summer to camp at LSU. The No. 1 defensive tackle in Missouri is looking to find out more about the academics and build a strong relationship with the coaches. http://www.scout.com/college/lsu/story/1757237-scout-300-quarterback-ope...
Oklahoma and Illinois are the two other schools coming after Perkins the hardest right now, but all remains even and open for Perkins. Oregon, Arkansas, Missouri, Miami, Michigan State, Texas and others all are courting Perkins.
The plan is for the No. 159 overall prospect and No. 14 overall defensive tackle to take all his official visits and decide after his senior season.
Stay tuned to Tiger Blitz as we monitor LSU's pursuit of the 2018 class and who will make their way to Baton Rouge.
