AROUND THE HORN

  • Robertson is coming off a tough weekend in Houston – 1-for-10 in three games – that dropped his average 118 points.
  • LSU pitchers have allowed seven home runs this season, with starters Eric Walker (3) and Alex Lange (2) accounting for all but two.
  • After not allowing a run in his first 5.1 innings of work at the college level, Peterson surrendered three in one-third of an inning against Texas Tech.
  • Each of the first four hitters in LSU’s lineup has scored 10 runs or more – Freeman, Duplantis, Robertson and Deichmann – which makes up 43 of the 87 runs the Tigers have plated (49.4%).
  • The Toreros own wins over Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, UC Irvine, Oregon and UCLA this season. Two of their three losses came to the Commodores on opening weekend and USD is 5-1 since then.
  • This is a five-game swing to Louisiana for San Diego. After Tuesday, the Toreros head down to New Orleans for a four-game set vs. Tulane starting Thursday.
  • In the last six games. USD has a team ERA of 1.77, paced by a bullpen that has allowed only three earned runs in 32.2 innings of work. One of the stalwarts out of the bullpen has been Richan, who gets the start vs. the Tigers.
  • The Toreros have allowed only stolen base this season. LSU is 17-for-23 in that department so far.
