Sophomore guard Antonio Blakeney will not be returning this time around to Baton Rouge it appears. The All-SEC guard announced on Tuesday that he is headed to the 2017 NBA Draft.
"After weeks of discussion, thoughts and prayers, I have decided to take the next step in my basketball career," Blakeney wrote on Twitter. "With that being said, I would like to announce that I'm entering the 2017 NBA Draft."
Blakeney thanked coaches, fans and his teammates in his Tweet.
"It was a privilege to wear the Purple and Gold uniform alongside my teammates," Blakeney said. "It was an honor to battle with you each and every night."
Some mock drafts have Blakeney as a first-round pick. With his ability to score, that could certainly be the case, but Blakeney was sat at times this season under now former head coach Johnny Jones for not playing hard enough on the defensive end of the floor.
Blakeney averaged 17.2 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game this season, up from 14 points a game in 2015-16.
