Source: Wichita State assistant Greg Heiar to join Will Wade's staff at LSU

A source told Tiger Blitz that Wichita State assistant Greg Heiar will join Will Wade's staff at LSU, confirming a report from Gary Parrish of CBS Sports.

Will Wade's staff is coming together as LSU's new basketball coach is set to add Wichita State assistant Greg Heiar to the coaching staff, a source told Scout. Gary Parrish of CBS Sports was first to report.

Heiar has spent the past six seasons at Wichita State under Gregg Marshall, working with the Shockers' guards including All-Americans Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet in back-to-back seasons.

Wichita State won four Missouri Valley Conference regular season titles and made six straight NCAA Tournament appearances in the Mount St. Clare graduate's six seasons in Kansas.

In 2012-13, Wichita State made the Final Four with Heiar on staff and in 2013-14, started 35-0, the first team in NCAA Division I history to accomplish the feat.

Heiar will join Tony Benford on staff, who was Wade's first hire of his tenure in Baton Rouge.

Stay tuned to Scout for more on how Wade's staff comes together in the coming weeks with evaluation period around the corner.
